The property is a haven of peace and calm within its surrounding gardens, and lies in rolling farmland planted with fig and ancient olive trees. Terraced into the hillside, the gardens embody a mediterranean style harmony of vegetation and stone. Skilled masons, working in the age old traditional manner, have formed a subtle geometry of warm coloured retaining walls and the beds thus created are planted with a varied and wonderful profusion of trees and flowering shrubs. From the southern terraces, serenaded by the tinkle of trickling water and the gentle cooing of turtle doves, one gazes down the whole length of the island across a superb landscape to where the neighbouring island of Formentera lies peacefully on the distant horizon.
